Chapter Conference
A Global Inter-Chapter Conference was held in Sharjah on September 3-4, 2007. The conf-
erence was attended by Chairman, Directors, CEO, chapter heads and representatives from Pakistan (Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad), UAE, USA, UK, Canada, Singapore and Saudi Arabia.

The objective of the conference was to gather all TCF International Chapter Representatives on a single platform to discuss and plan out future directions from a global perspective and further enhance inter-chapter working relationships. Major deliverables included setting strategic and fiscal targets for the next 1-3 years and developing marketing and business plans to achieve strategic and operational targets. During the conference, all the chapters made brief presentations about their activities in their respective regions and the challenges they face. Many new ideas were shared and all chapters learned from each others’ successes and challenges. Another key discussion point of the conference was the challenge of generating funds for sustaining TCF operations. After an initial presentation by CEO, all the chapters gave their individual commitments of contributing their share.

about TCF programs and the efforts of TCF-USA and other non-profits who contribute to education for the less privil-
eged in Pakistan. Greg Mortenson (author of the book ‘Three Cups of Tea’) and Barbara Janes (ex-Peace Corps member and a die-hard supporter of TCF) were amongst the esteemed speakers at the event. The aim of the program was to take the TCF word to a wider and more diverse audience in Northern California and TCF-USA was successful in achieving its goal.

New York – November & December 2007

The N.E. Region Chapter of TCF-USA held two outstanding events– first, a private showing of an exquisite art collection by Pakistani artists in November, followed by its Annual Fall Benefit Gala in December. Both events reached out to old and new supporters and raised funds for the ‘Sophia Campus’ a school project funded by the N.E. Chapter.

After the successes of the treks to the Hindu Kush and Nanga Parbat (Fairy Meadows) in 2005 and
2006, Friends of TCF (FTCF) organized their toughest trek yet. From June 27 to July 14, 2007 the adventurous participants
took part in a trek to K2 base camp. K2 is the second highest peak on earth, and is locally known as ‘Chogo Ri’, which translates as ‘The Great Mountain’. It is located on the border with China on the mighty Karakoram Range. The journey for those taking part in the trek began when they landed in Islamabad. They paid a visit to the local TCF Primary School called Maj. Gen. Fazal Muqeem Campus, Dhamial, Rawalpindi. The participants trekked for 11 challenging days and faced harsh weather conditions. They roughly covered an average of 16 miles a day over the icy, tough terrain. A laudable amount was raised through the trek and TCF is proud of its supporters taking up this challenge for the deserving children of Pakistan.
